release

“More weight!” she cried
a refusal to give in
pressed until crushed
by the stones of the oppressors
broken in body
bleeding in spirit and heart

“More weight!” she gasped
welcoming the distraction
focused on the grey sky
not on the angry disapproval
the scowls and scorn of the accepted
heaped heavier than the rock

“More weight…” she breathed
knowing herself blameless
despite the accusations
certain her  soul still glowed
reaching up through the clouds
still seeking home

loss

your ghost sits with me
taunting
teasing
not saying a damn word…

you walk alongside
leering
laughing
silent as the fog…

your ghost sits on my chest
restricting
wrecking
moon-mute and winking…
